Schwerpunkte der experimentellen und theoretischen Forschung liegen in den Bereichen Festkörperphysik, Kern- und Teilchenphysik, komplexe Quantensysteme und Biophysik. In der Ausbildung von Doktoranden nimmt die Dresdner Physik mit jährlich über 70 Promotionen eine Spitzenposition ein.
