Since 1996 Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Gerald Gerlach has been Chair of Solid-State Electronics . His research interests are focused on different aspects of sensor technology including sensor materials and corresponding deposition and fabrication techniques, design and modeling of sensors as well as diverse sensor applications. In 2023 he became Sensior Professor.

Seit 1996 ist Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Gerald Gerlach inhaber der Professur für Festkörperlelektronik. Seit seinem Studium beschäftigte er sich bereits mit verschiedensten Aspekten der Sensorik und entsprechender Werkstoffe, Herstellungstech­nologien, Modellierungs- und Entwurfsfragen und Anwendungen in der messtechnischen Praxis. Dies bestimmt auch die Forschungsgebiete der Professur und des gesamten Institut. Seit 2023 ist er Seniorprofessor.
